Saul of Tarsus was a Jewish scholar and took great pride in it. He was a student of Gamaliel, a great teacher; Acts 5:34 34 But a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, esteemed by all the people, stood up in the council, and ordered the apostles to go out for a moment. 35 Then he said to them, Men of Israel, take heed what you are going to do to these people. His zeal for Judaism led him to fiercely persecute the church of Jesus Christ. He spared no one who mentioned the name of Jesus; Acts 9:1 But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, 2 and asked him for letters for the synagogues of Damascus , so that if he found any supporters of the new doctrine, whether men or women, he would bring them bound to Jerusalem. 3 As he was on his way, and approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. 4 He fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? 5 He said, Who are you, Lord? And the Lord said: I am Jesus whom you persecute. It would be hard for you to kick back against the goads. 6 Trembling and being afraid, he said, Lord, what do you want me to do? And the Lord said to him: Arise, enter into the city, and it will be told to you what you must do. 7 The men who accompanied him were amazed; they heard the voice clearly, but they saw no one. 8 Saul rose up from the ground, and although his eyes were open, he saw nothing; they took him by the hand, and led him to Damascus.

Because of spiritual blindness, he was ruled by the doctrines and thoughts of men and not those of God. We understand this by the fact that God made him experience physical blindness; it was driven by men. This will be the beginning of his conversion to Christianity and his apostolate. As he was no longer one of the persecutors, he will be confronted with numerous oppositions: judged by the Sanhedrin; Acts 22: 2 When they heard that he was speaking to them in the Hebrew language, they became even more silent. And Paul said: 3 I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia; but I was brought up in this city, and instructed at the feet of Gamaliel in the exact knowledge of the law of our fathers, being full of zeal for God, as you all are today. 4 I have persecuted this doctrine to death, binding and putting in prison both men and women. 5 The high priest and all the body of elders are my witnesses. I even received letters from them for the brothers in Damascus, where I went to bring those who were there bound to Jerusalem and have them punished. 6 As I was on my way, and approaching Damascus, suddenly, about noon, a great light from heaven shone around me. 7 I fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to me, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?

10 What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said to me: Get up, go to Damascus, and there they will tell you everything you must do. 11 When I saw nothing because of the brightness of that light, those who were with me took me by the hand, and I came to Damascus. 12 Now one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, of whom all the Jews living in Damascus bore good testimony, came to me, 13 and said to me, Saul, my brother, receive your sight. At the same moment, I regained my sight and looked at him. 14 He said, The God of our fathers has appointed you to know his will, to see the righteous one, and to hear the words of his mouth; 15 for you will be his witness to all men of the things you have seen and heard. 16 And now what are you delaying? Arise, be baptized, and cleansed from your sins, calling on the name of the Lord. 17 When I returned to Jerusalem, as I was praying in the temple, I was in rapture, 18 and I saw the Lord saying to me, Make haste, and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not receive your testimony about me . 19 And I said, Lord, they themselves know that I put in prison and scourged in the synagogues those who believed in you, and that, 20 when the blood of Stephen your witness was shed, I was myself present, adding my approval to that of the others, and keeping the clothes of those who put him to death. 21 Then he said to me, Go, I will send you far away to the nations... 22 They listened to him even to this word. But then they lifted up their voice, saying, Remove such a man from the earth! He is not worthy of living.

From a persecutor he was transformed into an apostle of the Lord; Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart to preach the gospel of God, 2 which was promised before of the part of God through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 and which concerns his Son (born of the seed of David, according to the flesh, 4 and declared the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by his resurrection of between the dead), Jesus Christ our Lord, 5 through whom we have received grace and apostleship, to bring all the Gentiles to the obedience of the faith in his name, 6 among whom you also are, who were called by Jesus Christ.

God is merciful and compassionate, if Saul became an apostle Paul, there is hope for you too. Whether you are a persecutor like Saul, a murderer, a radicalist, or others, God does not close his heart to those who want to approach Him. Paul loved God but he did not know that he was the opposite (outside the will of God). So He will give him grace and use him in his zeal to fully accomplish what he desired (to make God known). He wrote the majority of the books of the New Testament which served as a basis for a better understanding of Christianity (mystery of Christ). God wants you too.

God bless you.

If you desire to enter into God's plan, to be saved, repeat this prayer:

Lord, I recognize that I am a sinner. Forgive me all my faults and cancel their consequences. I recognize that Jesus was sacrificed, He came to die on the cross and rose again for me. I receive him into my life as Lord and savior. I pray that You would strengthen my faith. May I be written in your book of life and be a citizen of your kingdom in Jesus name, amen!
