Many people in the history of the Bible or God have wondered how an alpha and omega God could be known. And even the story of the first man, Adam. How was the creation story pieced together when there were no eyewitnesses? It is a matter of oral tradition. In African societies, we see griots capable of tracing the genealogy of the royal court or a given family. Among these there are those who have learned from initiates, but there are also those who work through mystical powers. They are able to mention the generations from the ancestors to the current one by saying what each one did and why the family has that name. There is no written source but we believe it, whether it is true or false. In the time of our ancestors, the stars were the griots who sang the prowess of the victors, told the story, praised the merits of families and men, while entertaining. They played an essential role in traditional society: phrases, songs, tales, to convey this wisdom that is both ancestral and contemporary; beautiful, poetic, prophetic, magical, lucid… Their know-how was passed down from generation to generation. Their training involved a long apprenticeship under the guidance of their mentor. Thanks to them, poetry, music and history were transmitted and perpetuated. They were, in a way, the holders of the socio-cultural heritage of Africa. Guarantors of the survival of collective memory, some have been confidants and advisors to kings, presidents, poets and sometimes judges.
“A griot who dies is a library that burns,” said Amadou Hampâté Bâ.
If men, naturally or spiritually can transmit history to men, how much more can God who is All-Sufficient? God transmitted Genesis to Moses. He wrote Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. This was the one with whom God spoke face to face;Exodus 33:11 The LORD spoke with Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Then Moses returned to the camp; but his young servant, Joshua son of Nun, did not come out of the tent. He was a friend of God, his secretary. God is able to make his word, his will, known to us if we allow ourselves to be guided by his Holy Spirit; John 1:25 And they asked him again, Why then do you baptize, if you be not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet? 26 John answered them, I baptize with water, but among you is one whom you do not know, who comes after me; 27 I am not worthy to unloose the strap of his shoes. 28 These things happened in Bethany beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. 29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to him, and he said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. 30 This is he of whom I said, After me comes a man who was before me, for he was before me. 31 I did not know him, but that he might be made manifest to Israel, I came to baptize with water. 32 John gave this testimony: I saw the Spirit come down from heaven like a dove and settle on him. 33 I did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, “He on whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit . 34 And I saw, and bore witness that he is the Son of God. Some have carried out investigations to write books and their testimony is true because it agrees with those who preceded them; Luke 1:1 Now many began to compose a record of the things that happened among us, 2 according to what was handed down to us by those who were eyewitnesses from the beginning and became ministers of the word, 3 he told me also seemed good, after having made exact researches on all these things from their origin, to explain them to you in writing in a consistent manner, excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you recognize the certainty of the teachings which you have received. The evangelist Luke, who was a doctor, sought to find out if what was said was true. This is normal for a scientist. He had confirmation of this and firmly believed. 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture (the Bible) is divinely inspired, and profitable for teaching, for overcoming, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 That the man of God may be complete, and thoroughly equipped for every good work.
GOD BLESS YOU !
