A penitentiary guard who was ordered to throw Paul and Silas into the prison and keep them had an extraordinary experience that would lead him to BELIEVE in the Lord Jesus and FOLLOW him; I say this because if we believe in someone we follow him, sura 3:55 - (Remember) when Allah said: “O Jesus, surely, I will put an end to your earthly life and raise you to Me, rid of those who did not believe and place until the Day of Resurrection, those who FOLLOW you above those who do not BELIEVE. Then your return will be to Me, and I will judge between you what you disagreed about. 
You see, he is talking about believing and following. In politics, followers say: we believe you and we follow you. You cannot claim to believe in someone without espousing their ideologies, without following them, it is a presumption, it is a lie, it is treason.
Which led to the prison guard's conversion; acts 16:20  And they brought them before the praetors, saying, These men trouble our city; 21  they are Jews, who proclaim customs which we who are Romans (CATHOLICs) are not permitted to receive or follow (gospel). 22  The crowd also rose up against them, and the praetors, having had their clothes torn off, ordered them to be beaten with rods. 23  After they had beaten them, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely. 24  When the jailer received this command, he threw them into the inner prison, and put the stocks under their feet. 25  About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing praises to God, and the prisoners were hearing them. 26  Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; at the same moment, all the doors opened, and the bonds of all the prisoners were broken. 27  The jailer awoke, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, thinking that the prisoners had escaped. 28  But Paul cried with a loud voice, Do not harm yourself, we are all here. 29  Then the jailer, having asked for light, went in quickly, and fell trembling at the feet of Paul and Silas 30  and brought them out, and said, Lords (of gods or angels), what must I done to be saved? 31  Paul and Silas answered, BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS, AND YOU WILL BE SAVED, YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. 32  And they spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house. 33  He took them with him, and at that hour of the night he washed their wounds, and immediately he and all his (members of his household) were baptized. 34  Having brought them to his lodgings, he served them food, AND HE REJOICED WITH ALL HIS FAMILY IN WHAT HE HAD BELIEVED IN GOD.
We clearly see that this man, by believing in Jesus, in turn believed in God, and his entire family with him. A man, woman or child can believe in the Lord Jesus and through him/her, members of his/her family are saved. 
There is a very good reason to follow Jesus; John 14:6  Jesus said to him, I am the way (the only one), and the truth (the only one), and the life (everlasting). No one comes to the Father (Paradise) except through me.
But how can you follow it? Romans 10:9  IF YOU CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH THE LORD JESUS, AND IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD HAS RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU WILL BE SAVED. 10  For believing with the HEART comes to righteousness, and confessing with the MOUTH comes to SALVATION, as the Scripture says: 11  Whoever believes in him will not be put to shame. (gnashing of teeth in hell).
Jesus himself told us that whoever believes in him will be saved but whoever does not believe will be condemned; Mark 16:16  He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
And even Mohamed recognized it; sura 3:56 - As for those who do not believe (in Jesus, see sura 3:55), I will punish them with a severe punishment, both here and in the Hereafter; and for them, no helpers (eternal condemnation).
It is not by good works that we are saved; Ephesians 2:5  He has made us who were dead in trespasses alive with Christ (by grace you have been saved); 6  He raised us up together, and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7  that he might show in the ages to come the exceeding riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8  For it is by grace you have been saved through faith (in Christ Jesus). And it doesn't come from you, it's the gift of God. 9  Not by works, lest any man should boast.
