At creation, God himself came to man to talk with him. This is why after sin, man did not know that he must come to God to repent ; genesis 3 :8 Then they heard the voice of the LORD God going through the garden toward evening, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. After sin, it is man who must go to God to speak to him. But there men will indulge in idolatry at the Tower of Babel (Babel is made up of 2 words from the Caldean language Bab-ilou which mean ‘’gate of the god’’. Men wanted to use this means to communicate with God. And He scattered them throughout all the earth ; Genesis 11 :1 All the earth had one language and the same words 2 As they departed from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and there they were. 3 They said to one another, Let us make bricks, and bake them in the fire. And the brick was their stone, and the bitumen was their cement. 4 They said again, Come ! let us build ourselves a city and a tower whose top reaches to heaven, and make us a name, so that we will not be scattered over the face of all the earth. 5 The LORD came down to see the city and the tower. Built the sons of men 6 And the LORD said, Behold, they are one people, and all have one language, and this is what they have undertaken ; now nothing would stop them from doing whatever they planned. 7 Come on ! let us go down, and there let us confuse their language, so that they no longer hear each other’s language. 8 And the LORD scattered them from there over the face of all the earth ; and they stopped building the city. 9 Therefore the name of it was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth, and from there the LORD scattered them over the face of all the earth. .

By the time God called Moses, there were already people serving the true God ; this is the case of Jethro (which means blessed be the Lord) his father-in-law ; exodus 3 :1 Moses shepherded the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, priest of Midian ; and he led the flock beyond the wilderness, and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb.

God until one time did not make sin a problem. It’s like a teacher who tolerates the whims of his students at the beginning of the year. But gradually he will start by placing safeguards for the smooth running of activities ; romans 5 :13 for until the law sin was in the world. Now sin is not imputed when there is no law.

When Cain left the presence of God, many people followed him astray. Then from the birth of Adam’s little son named Enosh that some returned to God ; Genesis 4 :25 Adam still knew his wife ; she bore a son, and called his name Seth, for, she said, God has given me another son in place of Abel, whom Cain killed. 26 Seth also had a son, and he called his name Enosh. It was then that people began to call on the name of the Lord ;genesis 4 :14 Behold, thou castest me from this earth this day ; I will be hidden from your face, I will be a wanderer and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.

The growth of wickedness ; Genesis 6 :5-8 5 And the LORD saw that the wickedness of men was great in the earth, and that every thought of their heart was only toward evil every day. 6 The LORD repented that he had made man on the earth, and he was grieved in his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy from the face of the earth man whom I have created, from man to cattle, and from creeping things, and from the birds of the air ; for I repent of having done them. 8 But Noah found favor in the sight of the LORD ; 11 The earth was corrupt before God, the earth was full of violence. 12 God looked at the earth, and behold, it was corrupt ; for all flesh had corrupted its way on earth. 13 Then God said to Noah, The end of all flesh is over me ; for they have filled the earth with violence ; behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 2 Peter 2 :4 For if God did not spare the angels that sinned, but cast them down into the depths of darkness and reserved them for judgment ; 5 if he did not spare the old world, but saved Noah, the eighth, that preacher of righteousness, when he brought the flood on an ungodly world ; 6 if he condemned to destruction and reduced to ashes the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, setting them as an example to the ungodly ones to come, 7 and if he delivered the righteous Lot, who was deeply saddened by the conduct of these wicked men. Restraint in their dissolution 8 (for this righteous man, who dwelt among them, tormented his righteous soul daily because of what he saw and heard of their criminal works) ; 9 The Lord knows how to deliver the godly from trial, and to reserve the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. Noah’s ark was a symbol of salvation ; genesis 6 :14 Make yourself an ark of gopher wood ; you will arrange this ark into cells, and you will cover it with pitch inside and out.

At the time when there were people who worshiped the true God, there were those who served the false ones ; exodus 4 :19-23 19 The LORD said to Moses in Midian, Go, return to Egypt, for all those who wanted your life are dead. 20 Moses took his wife and his sons, and put them on donkeys, and returned to the land of Egypt. He took the rod of God in his hand. 21 The LORD said to Moses, As you go back to Egypt, see all the wonders that I have put in your hand ; you shall do them before Pharaoh. And I will harden his heart, and he will not let the people go. 22 You shall say to Pharaoh, Thus says the LORD : Israel is my son, my firstborn. 23 I say to you, Let my son go, that he may serve me ; if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will destroy your son, your firstborn. 27 The LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. Aaron left ; he met Moses in the mountain of God, and he kissed him. 28 Moses made known to Aaron all the words of the LORD that sent him, and all the signs which he commanded him to do. 29 Moses and Aaron went on their way, and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel. 30 Aaron reported all the words that the LORD had spoken to Moses, and he performed the signs in the sight of the people. 31 And the people believed. They heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel, that he had seen their suffering ; and they bowed down and prostrated themselves.

Abraham’s father was an idolater, which is why God told him to leave this place to better reveal himself to Him. Abraham could not sacrifice to God and to the idols of his father ; Genesis 12 :1 And the LORD said to Abram, Go from your country, from your country, and from your father’s house, into the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you ; I will make your name great, and you will be a source of blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and those who curse you I will curse ; and all the families of the earth will be blessed in you. 4 Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot departed with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he came out of Haran. 5 Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, with all their possessions and the servants they had acquired in Haran. They departed to go to the land of Canaan, and they came to the land of Canaan ;Joshua 24 :1 Joshua assembled all the tribes of Israel at Shechem, and summoned the elders of Israel, their princes, their judges and their officials . And they presented themselves before God. 2 Joshua said to all the people, Thus says the LORD God of Israel : Your fathers, Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, dwelt of old on the other side of the river, and they served others gods.

We must understand that since the fall of man, human beings have been groping to find God ; Acts 17 :24 The God who made the world and all that is in it, being the Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands ; 25 He is not served by human hands, as if he had need of anything, he who gives life and breathing and all things to all. 26 He made all men of one blood to dwell on all the face of the earth, having determined the length of time and the boundaries of their habitation ; 27 He wanted them to seek the Lord, and to grope to find him, although he is not far from each one of us, 28 for in him we have life and movement and being. This is also what some of your poets have said : Of him we are the race… 29 Therefore, being the race of God, we must not think that the Godhead is like gold , silver, or stone, sculpted by the art and industry of man. 30 God, ignoring the times of ignorance, now announces to all men everywhere that they must repent, 31 because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness, the man he designated, of which he gave to all a certain proof by resurrecting him from the dead… We must remain focused on the true path which leads to eternal life ; Joshua 24 :14 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him with integrity and faithfulness. Destroy the gods that your fathers served across the river and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. 15 And if it is not good for you to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served beyond the river, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. I and my house will serve the LORD.
