Human life goes through three stages : birth, youth and old age. During these stages, men intervene in our lives : at baptism, marriage and death. This seems like a pure coincidence. God did nothing by chance. We are made up of the body, the soul (seat of emotions) and the spirit ; Leviticus 17 :14 For the soul of all flesh is its blood which is in it. Therefore I said to the children of Israel : You shall not eat the blood of any flesh ; for the soul of all flesh is its blood : whoever eats it shall be cut off. It is the same with death which reaches us. We distinguish three types, don’t mind !
The first is physical death. The body is buried or cremated depending on the country and culture. This death is caused by original sin ; Genesis 2 :9 And the LORD God made every tree grow out of the ground, pleasant to the sight and good for food, and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil ;16 The LORD God commanded the man : You may eat of every tree of the garden ;17 but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day you eat of it , you will die. And it is she who will generate the other two. However, there is no need to be alarmed because a person can die physically while his soul is saved ; Matthew 10 :28 Do not fear those who kill the body and cannot kill the soul (spirit) ; Rather, fear him who can destroy soul and body in hell. For God the body is nothing, what is something is salvation ; 1 Timothy 2 :3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires that all men should be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself a ransom for all. This is the testimony given in its own time.
The second is spiritual death. It is when we are alive and do not have a good relationship with God. The spirit is defiled, and we are not sanctified by the blood of Jesus ; 1 Corinthians 11 :28 Let everyone therefore test himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup ; 29 For whoever eats and drinks without discerning the body of the Lord, eating and drinking brings judgment upon himself. 30 Therefore many are sick and sick among you, and many have died. These are the spiritual dead. If we die in this state without resolving our sin problem with God, we will not have access to heaven. At this level, there is always the possibility of return since physical death did not take us away first. We must leave the shame of men for non-Christians, accept Jesus and sincerely repent for Christians. God is merciful and will receive us and forgive us.
The third type of death which is the second death is the most dangerous ; Revelation 20 :14 And death and hell were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 Whoever was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. It is when we are physically dead without having Jesus as Lord and Savior or when we have Him but died in sin without repenting. This is more painful because there is no longer any way back. No fasting or prayer can deliver us from the fire of hell ; Luke 16 :23 In hell he lifted up his eyes ; and while he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off (who was very rich with many servants), and Lazarus in his bosom (all in paradise). 24 He cried out, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue ; for I suffer cruelly in this flame. 25 Abraham answered, My child, remember that in your life you received your good things, and in his life Lazarus had evils ; now he is here comforted, and you are suffering. 26 Moreover, between us and you there is a great gulf, so that those who would pass from here to you, or from there to us, cannot do so. 27 The rich man said, I pray thee therefore, father Abraham, that thou send Lazarus unto my father’s house ; because I have five brothers. 28 That he may testify these things unto them, that they also should not come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham answered : They have Moses and the prophets (the Bible and the preachers of the gospel) ; let them listen to them. 30 And he said, No, father Abraham, but if any of the dead come to them, they will repent. 31 And Abraham said to him, If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded even if one from the dead should rise again.
So what should we do ?Amos 4 :12 answers us :Therefore I will do the same to you, Israel ; And since I will treat you in the same way, Prepare to meet your God, O Israel (me or you) ! Ecclesiastes 11 :9 Young man, rejoice in your youth, rejoice in your heart in the days of your youth, walk in the ways of your heart and in the sight of your eyes ; but know that for all this God will call you to judgment.
