INTRODUCTION
The life of men is governed by a certain number of laws, the fundamentals of which are taken from the word of God (the prohibition of theft, murder, etc.) When we read Exodus 20:1-17 we see that 60% of the 10 ten commandments concern the human-human relationship and 40% man-God. This shows us the importance that the Lord places on our relationship with others. All commandments have a specific purpose, and it is for our good. And all these commandments are addressed to all men without exception. Their violation has serious consequences.
DEVELOPMENT
What was God's plan through the Ten Commandments? The first 4 commandments concern the relationship between men and their God (creator).
EXODUS 20:
Verses 2 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 You shall have no other gods than me.
✓FIRST COMMANDMENT: HAVE NO GOD BUT THE LORD.
But how many people have help and support elsewhere? They attach themselves to other powers that do not come from God. So they have another god even though they say they have a religion. The Lord did not say that you will have no religion other than me but other gods. Some have men or their wealth as gods. They think they can get them out of any danger; deception!
This Almighty God has made a way to be saved after death; number 21:5 and spoke against God and against Moses: Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, that we should die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water, and our soul is disgusted with this miserable food. 6 Then the LORD sent fiery serpents against the people; they bit the people, and many died in Israel. 7 And the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee. Pray to the LORD, that he may take these serpents away from us. Moses prayed for the people. 8 The LORD said to Moses, Make for yourself a fiery serpent, and place it on a pole; whoever is bitten and looks at it will live. 9 Moses made a serpent of bronze, and placed it on a pole (CRUCIFIXIEON OF JESUS); and whoever had been bitten by a serpent, and looked at the brazen serpent, retained his life (THIS VERSE IS QUITE IMPORTANT BECAUSE HE HAD TO FIX THE LOOK ON THE CROSS which was the serpent and the pole TO BE SAVED; THIS IS THIS SYMBOL WE SEE IN FRONT OF PHARMACIES They use it to say that they can cure illnesses. It's true but they don't have any cures. sins, it is Jesus Christ alone who can save from sin and its consequences.
Verses 4 You shall not make for yourself any graven image, or any representation of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth below, or that is in the waters below the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
✓SECOND COMMANDMENTS: DO NOT PRACTICE IDOLATRY
This is an area that the Catholic Church does not want us to touch. In reality, the sale of indulgences (requiem masses) brings in a lot of money.
What can we say about the statuette trade? God is clear but men refuse to obey. However, those who practice such things are far from being saved; 1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither the fornicators, nor the idolaters, nor the adulterers, 10 nor the effeminate, nor the vile, nor the thieves, nor the covetous, nor the drunkards, nor the revilers, nor the extortioners, SHALL INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
Verse 7 You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes his name in vain.
✓THIRD COMMANDMENT : DO NOT RANDOMLY PRONOUNCE THE NAME OF GOD OR JESUS.
In Israel, when you pronounce the name of God, you will not know when those around you have left. They have deep respect for his name. And even when they write a text, if they come to a place where they have to mention the name of God, they stop, go wash their hands before continuing. What fear (respect)!) We see actors playing with the name of God, of Jesus Christ, we will have to be careful, it is blasphemy. Same for those who swear by these names.
Verse 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 You shall work six days, and do all your work. 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your man, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor the stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day: therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it.
✓FOURTH COMMANDMENT : REST
In a world where business and individualism have taken over, many people ignore rest. Our cells wear out and we can get sick or die. This is the reason why the Lord tells us to rest because he himself, who never tires, rests to contemplate his marvelous works. Who then are we mortals not to stop and give thanks to God for His assistance during the week. Let's make no mistake, December 31st alone is not enough to be grateful to God.
Verse 12 Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
✓FIFTH COMMANDMENT : RESPECT FOR BIOLOGICAL OR ADOPTIVE PARENTS
This commandment therefore invites us to respect our parents (father and mr. These are people who sacrificed their well-being and their future for us so that we have a better future. Some could build beautiful houses, buy beautiful cars but They preferred to invest in us. They are the ones who took care of us from the cradle, in illnesses. Moreover, it is the only commandment that is followed by a promise. . It is to be appropriated. forget our educators, teachers, employers…
Verse 13 “You shall not kill. »
✓SIXTH COMMANDMENT : AVOID MURDER
To better understand this, let's read Matthew 5: 21 You have heard that it was said to the ancients, You shall not kill; he who kills deserves to be punished by the judges. 22 But I tell you that whoever is angry with his brother deserves to be punished by the judges; than the one who says to his brother: Raca! deserves to be punished by the Sanhedrin; and whoever says to him: Fool! deserves to be punished by the fire of Gehenna.
Here we see that getting angry and doing bad things is murder. It comes down to lack of forgiveness.
Life is a gift from God. It is sacred. We must therefore respect our own life and that of others. We kill many people in our hearts perhaps without knowing it: through anger, contempt, resentment, jealousy... We can hurt morally (verbal threats), spiritually, physically. So let's be careful.
Verse 14 “You shall not commit adultery. »
✓SEVENTH COMMANDMENT : AVOID ADULTERY AND FORNICATION.
We understand this best from what the Lord Jesus Christ said about it in Matthew 5:28 But I tell you that whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
It’s not just the sexual act that’s the problem, it’s beyond that. Desiring a man or woman in your heart defiles it. But this is not a reason to let yourself be drawn into the physical act. We can program someone's death or accident spiritually but not have it happen physically. If that happened, it's screwed.
Verse 15 You shall not steal.
✓EIGHTH COMMANDMENT : THE PROHIBITION OF THEFT
Some people steal from their parents, believing that it is not a problem; proverb 28:24 He who steals from his father and his mother, And says: It is not a sin! Is the companion of the destroyer.
Have we not robbed God our Father in tithes and offerings? We steal people's money and we tell ourselves that it doesn't matter. Is what we take our salary or our allowance? We ruin others with this attitude. Others steal the land (the plots), its natural resources (gold and many others), the qualifications (fraud in exams and competitions). They do this to be in charge at the expense of those who deserve it.
Verse 16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. »
✓NINTH COMMANDMENT : FALSE WITNESSES
This commandment denounces lying (speaking or acting consciously and deliberately against the truth.) He who lies is the son of the devil (father of lies); John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do . He was a murderer from the beginning, and he does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he utters a lie, he speaks from his own heart; for he is a liar and the father of lies.
At this level, witnesses, judges, lawyers and everyone are involved. Let us not lie to condemn the innocent and free the guilty.
Verse 17 You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that belongs to your neighbor.
✓TENTH COMMANDMENT : AVOID COVETOUSNESS
We understand this best from what the Lord Jesus Christ said about it in Matthew 5:28 But I tell you that whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Genesis 4:7 Surely, if you do good, you will lift up your face; but if you do evil, sin lies down at the door, and its desires are against you: but you have dominion over it. 8 However, Cain spoke to his brother Abel; but as they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
Lust leads to jealousy (Cain and Abel) or the desire to possess whatever means; Mark 8:36 And what does it profit a man to gain all the world, if he loses his own soul?
We are often tempted by the desire to be like, to have the same thing as our neighbor, our brother, our friend... Are our fingers the same size? No. So whatever we do, we will never be equal. These are rich and sick or without children; those are in good health, have offspring and struggle to take care of them. There are births and deaths, geese and sorrows. Let us rejoice in what God gives us.
CONCLUSION
Revelation 22:18 I declare to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to it, God will strike him with the plagues described in this book; 19 and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, described in this book.
God bless you !
