WEARING THE VEIL AND RINGS

A-WEARING OF THE VEIL

1 Corinthians 11:5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled dishonors her head; it is as if she were shaved. 6 For if a woman is not veiled, let her also cut her hair. Now, if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut or to be shaved, let her veil herself. 14 Does not nature itself teach you that it is shame for a man to wear long hair, 15 but it is glory for a woman to wear it, because the hair was given to him as a veil?

In his time there was the pagan temple where prostitutes were. And those who came to sacrifice could enjoy themselves there. These ladies had shaved heads, which distinguished them from the others. It often happened that prostitutes came to Christ; they participate in worship with such heads. Those who come to Sunday service are therefore scandalized when they see them. To avoid scandal, the apostle Paul says to cover your head.

Also having a shaved head was a punishment imposed on adulterous women. We therefore understand why Paul said that a woman's hair is the glory of her husband.

Some, not having understood this, demand the wearing of a headscarf, so they are off topic!

Besides, the veil was for dishonored women. So what is borrowed from the Bible and said in what follows is not valid; Sura 24:31 And tell the believing women to lower their gaze, to keep their chastity, and to show of their finery only what appears, and TO DROP THEIR VEIL ON THEIR CHESTS; and that they only show their finery to their husbands, or to their fathers, or to their husbands' fathers, or to their sons, or to their husbands' sons, or to their brothers, or to their brothers' sons, or to the sons of their sisters (abomination, see LEVITICUS 18:6-17), or to Muslim women, or to the slaves they own, or to impotent male servants, or to immature boys who know nothing about the hidden parts of women. And let them not strike with their feet so that it will be known what they hide with their adornments. And repent to Allah all of you, O believers, that you may reap success. LEVITICUS 18:6 None of you shall come near to his relative to uncover her nakedness. I am the Lord. 7 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father, nor the nakedness of your mother. She is your mother: you shall not uncover her nakedness. 8 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's wife. This is your father's nakedness. 9 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister, your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether born in the house or born outside the house. 10 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your son's daughter or of your daughter's daughter. Because it is your nakedness. 11 You shall not uncover the nakedness of the daughter of your father's wife, born to your father. It's your sister. 12 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's sister. She's your father's close relative. 13 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister. Because she is your mother's close relative. 14 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's brother. You shall not come near his wife. She's your aunt. 15 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law. She is your son's wife: you shall not uncover her nakedness. 16 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother's wife. This is your brother's nakedness. 17 You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter. You shall not take his son's daughter, nor his daughter's daughter, to uncover their nakedness. They are your close relatives: it is a crime.

B-BEARING OF RINGS

The rings: GENESIS 35:4 Then they gave to Jacob all the gods of the strangers that they had, and the rings (rings) that hung in their ears, and he buried them under an oak tree, which was near Shechem.

They were protective objects like amulets today. This is the reason why Jacob buried them; it was not simply to adorn himself. If this is the case, there is no need to remove them. Even today some people hang amulets on chains to deceive the vigilance of others; the thing is hidden under the boubou.

The same thing (wearing the protective rings) happened with Aaron; EXODUS 32:1 When the people saw that Moses was slow to come down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron, and said to him, Let us go! make us a god who walks before us, for this Moses, this man who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him. 2 Aaron said to them, Take off the golden rings that are in the ears of your wives and your sons and your daughters, and bring them to me. 3 And they all took off the golden rings that were in their ears, and they brought them to Aaron.

GOD BLESS YOU!
