                                                                  INTRODUCTION

Nowadays he There is hardly any other area of doctrine that is more the subject of false doctrines, if not heresies, than that of the Holy Spirit. To help believers know the truth, the ASSEMBLIES of GOD church, which is a Pentecostal church, continues to rectify the situation against its members. Throughout the scriptures, we will demonstrate that the Holy Spirit is a divine, true person who can be known by the Christian. But first, let us define the term Holy Spirit.

                                                                     I-DEFINITION

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, that of Jesus Christ. He is the third person of the Trinity. He is the comforter who was promised to Christians by Christ. The Holy Spirit is a being just like the Father and the son. The connotations Holy Spirit and Holy Spirit speak of the same Spirit of God.

II-THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A DIVINE PERSON

1-The Holy Spirit acts like a person

No one can bear witness except a person. And it is the Holy Spirit who speaks of our Lord Jesus Christ and who also bears witness about us. The verses below tell us more. First, he testifies of our Lord Jesus Christ : John 15 :26 When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, he will testify of me. Then he leads in the truth, he hears and he proclaims : John 16 :13 when the Helper comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you into all the truth ; for he will not speak of himself, but he whatever he hears, he will speak, and he will tell you things to come. The Christian needs the Holy Spirit to be able to walk in the truth and turn away from false doctrines. Also, it inspires the writing 2 Peter 1 :21 because it was not by the will of man that a prophecy John was ever brought, but it was moved by the Holy Spirit that men spoke of the part of God. The entire Bible was written by the leading of the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, he calls to the ministry Acts 13 :2 while they were serving the Lord in their ministry and fasting, the Holy Spirit said : Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have them. Called. Even today, the Holy Spirit continues to choose men for the service of the Lord. He calls them, equips them and sends them to advance the work. Finally, Son intercedes for all the saints : Romans 8 :26 likewise also the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses, for we do not know what it is proper for us to ask in our prayers. But the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible sighs. We do not know how to pray. This is why the Holy Spirit himself takes over when we address God.

2-The Holy Spirit possesses the essential attributes of

a person and can be treated as such

Like any normal person, the Holy Spirit can be grieved and withdraw from the believer’s life. He can withdraw from man if he leads a life of debauchery and refuses sanctification : psalms 51 :11 do not cast me away from your face, do not take your Holy Spirit from me. David was aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit ; he also knew he could leave her life. He then asks the Lord not to take away this great blessing from him even if he took everything away from him.

                                       We can :

-Lie to Him acts 5 :3 Peter said to him : Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart, so that you lie to the Holy Spirit, and that you have withheld part of the price of the field ?

-Tempt Him Acts 5 :9 Then Peter said to him : How have you agreed to tempt the Spirit of the Lord ? Behold, those who buried your husband are at the gate, and they will carry you away. Ananias and his wife Sapphira certainly said to themselves that the apostles will not know the exact price of the field and that the Holy Spirit will not know it. Their exposition shows us that we must be sincere with the Holy Spirit.

-Resist Him acts 7 :51 men with stiff necks, uncircumcised in heart and ears ! You always offer yourself to the Holy Spirit. What your fathers were, you are also. When we refuse to turn from sin and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, then we resist Him.

-Grieve Him Ephesians 4 :30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you have been sealed unto the day of redemption. Our bad attitudes, even the slightest ones, do not allow the Spirit to manifest in us or through us.

-Outrage or offend Him : Hebrews 10 :29 What worse punishment do you think will be judged by him who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, who has considered sin and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, then we resist Him.

-Blasphemy against Him : Matthew 12 :31 therefore I say to you : all sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. These passages cited above reinforce our position regarding the personality of the Holy Spirit.

                                                                      III-THE HOLY SPIRIT IS TRUE

1-The names attributed to him reveal his personality and his divinity

-The Spirit of truth : John 14 :17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because he does not see him and does not know him ; but you know him, for he abides in you, and he will be in you.

-the Spirit of God : Romans 8 :9 for you, you do not live according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit, if at least the Spirit of God dwells in you. If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him.

-The Spirit of the Father : Matthew 10 :20 for it is not you who will speak, it is the Spirit of your Father who will speak in you.

-The Spirit of Jesus : Acts 16 :7 arrived near Mysia, they prepared to enter Bithynia ; but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.

-The Spirit of the Son : Galatians 4 :6 and because you are sons, God has sent into our hearts the Spirit of his son, who cries : Abba ! Father ! since the three divine persons are one, it is not surprising that the Holy Spirit can receive one or the other of these appellations indifferently.

The following names underline its qualities even more clearly.

2-The Holy Spirit is God He has divine attributes :

a-By his omniscience : 1Co 2 :10 God has revealed them to us through the spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.

b-By his omnipresence : Psalms 139 :7 where shall I go far from your spirit, and where shall I say far from your face ?

c-By his omnipotence : Zechariah 4 :6 then he answered and said to me : This is the word that the LORD speaks to Zerubbabel : neither by power nor by might, but by my Spirit, said the Lord of hosts.

IV-THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN BE KNOWN

                                                                      1-Regeneration

At the moment when a man gives in to the conviction of sin and accepts Jesus Christ, therefore at the moment of his conversion, the Holy Spirit produces in this heart by faith, in a single moment, the following operations which are only different aspects of one and the same intervention by the Spirit of God : He regenerates the believer, baptizes him. It is received by him, He adopts it and He seals it. In him you also believed, after hearing the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1 :13). From conversion, the Spirit of God comes to dwell in us : John 14 :17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees nor knows him ; but you, you know him, for he abides in you, and he will be in you.

2-The baptism of the Holy Spirit

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a sign that shows we have received a new person and we know them better. But do we need to hear about him and his baptism ? Some early believers were baptized in water but not in the Holy Spirit. When Paul met them, they received this baptism and would begin to know the Holy Spirit : Acts 19 :1-6 While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul, after traveling through the upper provinces of Asia, arrived at Ephesus. Having met some disciples, he said to them : Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed ? They answered him : We have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit…when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they prophesied. All who believe receive him. We do not belong to Christ if we have not received the Holy Spirit. Therefore, necessarily all believers are baptized with the Holy Spirit.

                                                               3-Speaking in tongues

In the Acts of the Apostles, it is only mentioned three times : In Acts 2 :1-4, at Pentecost, when the first Jewish believers received the Holy Spirit. In Acts 10 :44-46, when the first pagans who became believers received the Holy Spirit. In Acts 19 :1-6, when the disciples of John the Baptist understood and received the Holy Spirit. In these cases, this outward sign was necessary because without it the disciples would neither have understood that the Holy Spirit was now poured out nor that it will be given to everyone who believes, whether Jew or Gentile ! This is clearly seen when we read the scriptures. In our era this is happening again and will always happen so that those who receive the fullness of the Spirit will not be ignorant.

4-The Holy Spirit dwells in us

With the Spirit, God the Father also places his presence in us : 1Corinthians 3 :16 : do you not know that you are the temple of God and that God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you the Spirit we also receive the presence of God the Son. Galatians 2 :20 :I have been crucified with Christ ; and if I live, it is no longer I who go, it is Christ who lives in me ; If I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. John 14 :23 : Jesus answered him, If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him ; we will come to him, and we will make our home with him. How long will the Holy Spirit remain in us ? John 14 :16 : And I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.

5-The believer can know if the Holy Spirit lives in him

The Bible confirms this to us in John 14 :19-20 : a little more time, and the world will see me no more ; but you will see me, for I live, and you will also live. In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.

                                                                         CONCLUSION

Having reached the end of the theme submitted to our study, we retain that the Holy Spirit is a divine person with regard to his personality and his divine attributes. He is also true in the sense that he is the Spirit of truth and not of lies. The Holy Spirit being a person, then he can be known by Christians by his presence, his words and his actions. To do this believers must seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit and listen to his voice.
