Why confess Jesus?
The word is power. This is the reason why we ask everyone not to curse because if a misfortune happens as a result we will be guilty. Matthew 12:37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
satan is able to do our word, God is even more; Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved . => Example: Lord, I recognize that I am a sinner. Forgive me my iniquities. I believe Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day. I receive him as Lord and Savior. Write my name in the book of life and lead me all the days of my life.
In sects, they have sacred books whose verses they recite, perform incantations or certain practices (drinking blood, making sacrifices, sacrificing their members, etc.). 
When God wanted to put his spirit on someone, it happened by laying on of hands; Acts 8:14  When the apostles, who were in Jerusalem, heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John thither. 15  These when they came to the Samaritans, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16  For he had not yet come down upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17  Then Peter and John laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18  When Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given by the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money, 19  saying, Grant to me also this power, that he on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit. 20  But Peter said to him, Let your silver perish with you, since you believed that the gift of God was purchased for money. 21  There is neither part nor lot for you in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. 22  Repent therefore of your wickedness, and pray to the Lord that the thought of your heart may be forgiven you, if possible; 23  For I see that you are in bitter gall and in the bonds of iniquity. 24  Simon answered, Pray yourselves to the Lord for me, that nothing of what ye have said come to me.
In witchcraft, we say that we buy it. If you want to become a sorcerer, you must be initiated otherwise you will never become one. Let's look in tradition, there are people who are responsible for initiating others (often isolated for several days). And when this is done, the same invisible spirits of the clan animate them. What some call "the energies of nature" are not natural forces but spiritual powers. A martial art is historically, a learning that integrates a spiritual and moral dimension aimed at self-control (essential, both to renounce combat if it is avoidable, and to face it otherwise), and is enriched multiple knowledge. It is not just physical but above all spiritual. 
In Freemasonry we distinguish: the apprentice, the journeyman, the master, the secret master, the perfect master. Everything happens according to the initiation.
Knowing that everything spiritual passes through initiation, we cannot exclude the prayer of conversion according to which we confess that Jesus is Lord.
